dancer and the dark

this was actually a pretty quick sketch which resulted from the type of free- association-on-paper i indulge in when i'm a bit bored, but not so bored i flirt with the ceiling- (my friend Themis and i call it "ceiling therapy" and it's lethal when exercised over long periods! it's depressive underfunctioning!). ...anyyway, i liked the movement in this. it's not exactly natural, but i think it gives off in a naive and flowing feeling. i also think the dark shadow gives it a sort of airborne effect which is in contrast with the afformentioned naive tendency. maybe it's about maturity... too much commentary on a mere sketch -but i am a vain depressionist...
